Nandi Hills

Two day trips in one weekend! It’s bananas, I know. As if we hadn’t had enough excitement for one weekend with the coracle ride and wading through the Kaveri river, we threw in a trip to Nandi Hills on Sunday. Located at 4,851 feet above sea level, Nandi Hills offers a nice reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city and terrific (though pollution obstructed) city views. It is also the site of Tipu Sultan’s Summer fort and I can see why he chose this location. It’s safe. With the climb being so steep, who would ever attack your fort. Our car was literally smoking when we made it to the top of the mountain. Yikes.

Besides the Summer home, Claire and I stumbled upon a greenhouse/nursery area off a hiking path that had some beautiful eyecandy.

The best part of the trip was making new friends. The girls were so sweet and really fascinated seeing people from a different country. We had fun posing for pictures with them.

And for a small donation, this fella down here will bless you and tell you all about Ganesh. Randomly, he also likes to collect foreign currency. I must have sucker written all over my forehead. :)

That’s all the excitement for now. Next weekend we are planning a trip down to the border of Kerala to stay in a treehouse. Feeling very blessed to have the chance to experience India this way.
