Burrata, Roasted Leek & Onion Sprout Crostini

My Saturday morning routine involves a quick walk through of the Santa Monica FM and, if I'm feeling particularly cheeky, I'll indulge by stopping at Bay Cities. You can't beat bread fresh outta the oven. Warm and toasty… simply perfect. It's also one of the only places I know that stock fresh burrata. Burrata cheese is amazing in case you've never had it. Silky, creamy and buttery. When I find something I absolutely love, I just want everybody I know to try it. That includes you, as long as you promise to leave me a tub. :) To promote burrata, I paired it with roasted leeks, onion sprouts and Dijon. I layered it all on top of pieces of toasted baguette. Deliciousness in a bite.

[this is good] This photos looks just perfect!  No flaw at all.  I’ll have to make a vegan version of this now!

[this is good] That looks incredibly sexy. Did you sprout the onion seeds?  A creamy cheese, roasted leeks and fresh onion sprouts..deadly combination.

I’ve added Burrata to my list of cheeses to be tried.

I love your food styling and photography . . . and I bet it tastes delicious as well.  As a novice food photographer, I’m inspired by your blog . . . so thanks and please keep it coming.

Also, I fondly remember Bay Cities Deli . . . and agree that their hot-out-of-the-oven bread is sublime.  I lived for a couple of years near 19th and Pico and then for a couple years in Venice at 7th and Brooks.  I moved to DC late in 2004 and, though I love DC, I miss LA.  Reading your blog transports me for a few minutes back to a place I love.

Sexy! I like that. I didn’t sprout the onion sprouts myself. :( I picked them up at the FM, but I have been doing some research on sprouting, so maybe it’s time to pick up another hobby.

OMG, Julie…how did you read my mind from so far away? I just discovered burrata last week and was asking people where to find a shop that sells it! And then I see this post. Weird. Anyway, yours looks super yummy! And the photos are LOVELY!
