Gai Lan

Here is one of my top ten favorite vegetables of all time – Gai Lan aka Chinese Broccoli. Simply begin by blanching them. I do the stems for a few minutes first then toss the leafy parts in for another minute. Cool it in an ice bath, drain and simply saute it with garlic and ginger. Top it with a drizzle of sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds and you've got yourself a side dish filled with plenty of vitamin A, C and calcium.
