My Very First Le Creuset Dutch Oven

Finally! After all these years of lusting and yearning, I am the proud owner/parent of a Le Creuset 6.75 quart Dutch/French oven in Cactus Green. Isn't she a beauty? And now that I have a proper vessel to cook up some duck confit, cassoulet for Thanksgiving dinner is looking like much more of a possability.

Congratulations!  I yearn for decent cookware as well.  We are in the process of renovating our kitchen though so trying to get by with what we have until it is all finished.

[this is good] Mine is blue.  I got it at a discount outlet in Reading Pennsylvania about ten years ago.  I loves it.  My mother is still using the red one she got as a wedding present from her friends at the office.  Fifty five years ago.  I think they come with a 100-year guarantee.

[this is good] Very nice. It’s also a relief to see that kit fever isn’t a uniquely male malady :) I was looking through the product descriptions for a pizza stone manufacturer the other day, and found one for deep pan pizza. Instantly, I decided I desperately wanted to make deep pan pizza, and desperately needed that thing. Then I noticed that the product description said that this fantastic pizza stone/pan wasn’t just limited to deep pan pizza — you could do other things with it, such as quiches. Well, I’ve already got a pan that I’ve used to make a lot of quiches, so obviously, I could have made a deep pan pizza in that thing, any time I wanted (if I really HAD been so desperate to make deep pan pizza). So I had to tell myself, “Settle down, Beavis. You’ve got kit fever. Just take a deep breatch and step away from the keyboard.”

But there’s nothing much that can substitute for a Le Creuset Dutch oven, mind you. Congrats on nice piece of gear. I look forward to see what you’ll create with it.
