Quad-Berry Salad

I've made it a Sunday ritual to go the Santa Monica Main Street Farmers Market. I aim to buy organic whenever possible and local whenever possible. The farmers market ensures both those things. I would buy the entire market if I could, but I should also mention that another part of the ritual is riding my bike there… so I'm limited to only what I can fit in my backpack. I'm trying to hone my Sherpa skills, bit until then, I have to pick and choose. When I saw these berries, I knew I had to have them. They would be perfect for the mixed berry salad that I saw Ina Garten making on Food Network.

I chose strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries for my salad. Pretty much every berry I could find. I drizzled them with balsamic vinegar, a few tablespoons of sugar and tons of chopped mint. This was perfect. The vinegar becomes surprising syrupy, without being too sweet. The fresh mint compliments the sweetness and the tartness of the berries. Easiest and tastiest dessert with less than five ingredients. What more could you ask for?
